Proof Reading and Editing

Celapene Press offers proofreading and editing services.

Three types of services are provided:

Proofreading - Proofreading is a check for errors or omissions. We will check spelling, grammar, punctuation and errors such as missing words and incomplete sentences.

Copyediting - This is a more detailed look at the document. Copyediting involves checking spelling, grammar and punctuation, correcting ambiguities and inconsistencies such as spelling of names, or inconsistent use of numbers (10 or ten). We will look for consistent use of style including house styles (where relevant and provided). Referencing and quotations will be checked and recommendations made to improve the structure of the document if necessary. Font sizes and type will be checked and layout and format corrected.

Structural editing - A structural edit is a detailed look at a document. To undertake a structural edit, we need to have an understanding of who the audience is and what is the purpose of the document.

A structural edit will assess the language, style and tone, structure and presentation to ensure the document meets the writers needs and where necessary, make recommendations on these. It may involve:

• adding or deleting text
• restructuring text
• rewriting of text

Structural editing incorporates the copy editing process of the final document.

Requesting a quote

We will provide you with a written quote if you request one prior to starting work. To obtain a quote, please forward a copy of the document outlining the work you require and a quote will be provided within 24 hours.

If you are unable to send a copy of the document, please call 0409 933 930 to obtain a quote.

Payment

Payment can be made by direct deposit into a bank account, bank cheque or money order.

Submitting documents for proofreading and editing

Documents can be emailed, sent on CD, or by hard copy. Please include your name, address and phone number as well as the type of work you want done (proofreading or editing).

Documents should be in Word or rtf format, 12 point, Times New Roman and double spaced. If the document is an academic work, please include the topic or question and any style or referencing guides you are required to comply with.

How long does it take?

Documents up to 3000 words have a 3 day turnaround. For longer documents, please check how long it will take before sending.
